Inclusion
Students participate in the inclusive setting in order to interact with others and to be included in the least restrictive environment. The less restrictive setting includes; specials, lunch/recess and academic settings. The amount of time a student is included into the mainstream is determined by their individual needs.
Reverse Inclusion
Reverse inclusion provides valuable peer interaction opportunities, while providing the support services required by bringing peers out of their classrooms for short periods of time to interact socially. Peer modeling is a strategy utilizing the principles of ABA to program for and enhance social skill development. Learners with social communication and social interaction deficits often experience great difficulty with many aspects of social development. It is necessary to actively program for social interactions between our learners and their typically developing peers. These peers serve as role models for communication and play skills.
